Two Evergreen Remodels Win 2026 Oregon Home Structure + Style Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Evergreen Renovations received two 2026 Oregon Home Structure + Style Awards for Best in Remodel, recognizing a primary bathroom addition in Scappoose and a major whole-home remodel in SW Portland.

While the projects look very different, each started with the same approach: understand what isn’t working, listen closely to what the homeowners want from their home, and find a design solution that feels distinctly theirs.

Best in Remodel: A Primary Bathroom Designed Around the View

Our Scappoose primary bathroom received the award in the Best Bathroom Remodel category.

Set against a wooded landscape, the project replaced the home’s original primary bathroom with a new addition designed around natural light and its connection to the outdoors.

Four skylights and oversized windows bring daylight and views into the room, while polished green marble anchors a spacious dual walk-in shower. Rather than enclosing the shower in glass, the floor was carefully engineered with a subtle center peak and separate linear drains on either side, allowing the partition walls to contain the water while preserving the open design.

A custom floating concrete sink, warm wood tones, dimensional tile and gently curved architectural forms carry the organic material palette throughout the room.

There are also details you don’t see. The team concealed the hot water tank above a lowered ceiling in the adjacent toilet room, preserving valuable space in the bathroom itself. And when the originally selected marble arrived looking dramatically different from the samples, the team quickly sourced a replacement that preserved the design intent without significantly disrupting the project schedule.

The result is a primary bath shaped as much by its setting as by the materials inside it.

Best in Remodel: Opening Up a Mid-Century Home

Our SW Portland whole-home remodel received Best in Remodel in the Major Home Remodel category.

The original home had many of the qualities we love about Northwest mid-century architecture: soaring vaulted ceilings, expansive windows and a strong relationship to the surrounding landscape. But a compartmentalized floor plan made it difficult to experience those features from much of the home.

The kitchen was narrow and enclosed, the dining room was separated from the surrounding spaces, and walls interrupted the flow through the main living areas.

Rather than simply updating the finishes, the design-build team rethought how the spaces related to one another. Load-bearing walls were removed or relocated and roof trusses modified to create an open connection between the kitchen, dining and living areas.

Warm walnut cabinetry, natural stone, skylights and custom millwork bring texture and warmth to the newly open interior. A large kitchen island provides a central gathering place, while details including a concealed coffee bar, beverage refrigerator and integrated storage keep everyday functions tucked neatly into the architecture.

The existing stove-style fireplace was replaced with a streamlined gas fireplace clad in blue tile, creating a new focal point that feels at home with the home’s mid-century character.

By removing the barriers that had accumulated within the floor plan, the remodel allowed the architecture that was already there to become the focus again.

Designed for the People Who Live There

We’re honored to have these projects recognized, but for us, a successful remodel has always been about the people who live there.

The Scappoose bathroom began with a desire for a private retreat connected to its natural surroundings. The SW Portland remodel was about opening up a home with great architectural bones.
